I'm starting to watch news and political shows on my Android phone which gives me a much better variety than my cable TV does. FOX News is sometimes maddenning to an Independant that has been leaning more left lately (Yes ME) with the increasingly ridiculous claims from the right. The other day I saw a man on a FOX show with Hannity as the interviewer that had them both cheering on the idea that Obama has screwed things up to the point that we are in worse shape now than we were during the Great Depression. Really, he said that! Today I saw a much more intelligent discussion on CBS with Charlie Rose interviewing a scholar about his views and recent essay "The Myth Of American Decline".

(CBS News) Robert Kagan was recently described by The Washington Post as President Obama's favorite Romney adviser. That's because the president gave a thumbs-up to "The Myth of American Decline," an essay Kagan wrote for The New Republic magazine. It didn't seem to bother Mr. Obama that this senior fellow at the Brookings Institution is a foreign policy adviser to Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

Below, a transcript of Charlie Rose's conversation with Kagan:
