Yup.
It's a little more involved, but that's it in a nutshell.
Water is a better choice.
Unprocessed foods are a better choice.
I'll go eat my Butterfinger candybar now. :>)
The problem with unprocessed foods is that there's not much left out there that's not processed. I bought some meatballs the other day that said they contained beef. They tasted horrible and I ended up getting sick from all of the MSG and other byproducts that were in it. When I read the ingredients, I about passed out because there was everything BUT beef in it.
* elderban heads off to grow a garden and buy some cattle.
I have taken to reading ingredients even more than ever, in my search to reduce my saturated fat intake.
Boy, talk about scary.
Just about anything I've read, things are added that shouldn't be there. Put the multi-sylable chemicals aside, I have seen dehydrated fruits with salt added, the ever elusive "spice extracts" added to macaroni and cheese, saturated fats added to a chicken soup. And for your sanity sake, do not read the labels on cold cut packages.
The list goes on and on.
I do grow my own veggies, and freeze for over winter. (I don't know how to can, and for the most part, don't like the results). I can't say I grow my own cow, but the neighbor does, and will share on occasion.
And we wonder why we have new and exciting varieties of diseases and health problems.
If you really want to get scared...read the ingredients on a pack of pre-sweetened kool-aid. And people give this to their kids!
Was reading an article earlier today that most "fresh" packaged veggies (baby carrots, lettuces, etc.) are washed with a chlorine rinse. Uuuuhhhh, isn't that bleach?? They said that most frozen veggies were done the same way!
And don't forget all of the chemicals that are sprayed on them to keep the bugs off.
And all of the genetic modification they do to make them grow bigger and faster.
Can you say M O N S A N T O ?
I can get into whole thing about genetic engineering and vegetable plants, but I think the one that bothers me the most is Round-up resistant crops?
If Round-up (which is a indiscriminate systemic herbicide) will kill virtually anything it touches, do you REALLY want to eat something it CAN'T kill?
Bookie beat me to it!
And back to the orginal topic....
I read something that links soda to prostrate cancer & diabetes too.
It is in both regular & diet drinks...can't remember the ingredient but it was also linked to some other less serious conditions. It's not the sugar or artifical sweetener....it is another ingredient.
Glad I drink sweet tea. And I don't use sugar or artificial sweetener. I use stevia.
